This stuff is expensive, but the wheybolic works. Keep your receipt in case you're unhappy (as I was with Amplified Mass XXX) so you can get your money back if it doesn't work

I have been going to GNC off and on for 10 years so this is by no means a 1 time visit and review. After all of the traveling in the military and seeing probably 30+ different GNC's, the bottom line is they are not cost-efficient to be buying supplements from. Their mark-up on even basic items like Arginine is ridiculous. A $24.99 bottle of Jack3d at BB.com costs $39.99 at GNC. Granted, each store is franchise owned and prices vary from one store to another, the bottom line is that they are expensive. They typically carry most protein manufacturers and on Gold Card week with Buy One Get One specials, can be a decent place to pick up necessities, but other than that, I would stear clear of GNC.
Their sales staff is paid hourly and also on commision for certain products. MuscleTech products for example tend to pay the highest commision, regardless of whether or not there are better products there. The staff member is thus torn between making their money or selling you an item they may or may not actually support so your advice can never be fully objective. For that issue alone, you must always be careful when getting advice from them.
Now, with that said, I have known some good reps their that gave honest responses and wouldn't push a crap product, so there are honest people around...you just have to find one.
With a bargain deal on price-slashed products and the occasional BOGO offers, GNC can be an ok source to pick up some needed items, but for everyday ordering, go online and save a ton of money.

yeah, GNC is ok, they are the only supplement store around in my area, i have the gold card so when i buy stuff it saves me a couple of bucks, i like the product selection its ok, they guys working there are always eager to help.the prices are a little through the roof but then again what supplement isn't?

I'm only recommending GNC cuz they all over the place, and if I'm not ready to drive across town for a few supps I don't expect anyone else to be either. Overall selection isn't bad, but they only seem to carry the big name brands and occasionally have the smaller brands. However, what brands they do carry they seem to have almost all the products available from that brands, which is good. They do push Muscle Tech alot, which gets on my nerves cuz it seems to be all they wanna sell. However, the GNC I go to at the West Covina mall doesn't have a all nucklehead employees (sorry if I stepped on some toes, but the ones I've met don't seem like they've used the stuff). It's only one guy, and he's only there in the mornings. So unless yer an early riser like me yer skrewd. They're helpful, but don't ask questions there. One employee started ravning about some gainer I just wasn't gonna buy and he was skinny as a coat hanger. Also I don't know why, but the women working for GNC seem to have been completely useless. I'm not sexist, but they could'nt answer my questions and always seem to have a deer caught in the headlights look on them. Help yerself out, read some reviews, join a forum, and research the products you sell...and that goes for all employees everywhere >={. Prices suck unless yer a memeber and shopp only the first week of every month. Every now and then though, they come up with an awesome sale that just knox yers sox off, but they're seasonal and few and far between. At the end of it all convinienve trumps all, and in my area alone I have at least 3 conviniently located.

As a GNC employee, I am really shocked the rating is so low. I completely understand that our prices are on the high side but unfortunately as a retail store where a company must pay rent, utilities, payroll ect, the operation costs get passed on to the consumer. I understand some of the complaints about the service as I do know a few employees that were not qualified to have anything to do with supplements but you need to understand that within every company in every industry there are people who are just idiots. Do we get comission on certain products? Yes. Do some employees use this as the only motivation for what they recomment? Unfortunately. Myself, I realize that why I may make a few extra bucks recommending a product with a large comission, it is much more beneficial to me if I recommend a product that works. That way the customer is happy and will keep coming back, which in turn will make me more money. I recommend BB products that I have used myself and I know work. As a GNC employee am I told to push the AMplified Wheybolic Extreme? Yes. But I also believe that it is the best protein that we carry and I take it myself. So my recommendation to anyone reading this is that if you want to go to a GNC where you can get solid advice from someone who wants you to see the results that you want, shop around. Try out different employees at different stores and when you find one that truly cares about the consumer, stick with them. I pride myself on having several returning customers that request me. I take more pride in having a customer come back and told me that they loved a product than making an extra buck or two selling crap.
Also, I don't understand how people can rave about Vitamin Shoppes selection and hate ours. We are a much larger company and carry a wider array of products. If you go into a store and don't see a product you are looking for it could just be it is a smaller volume store. Ask them to look it up on the register. The database carries everything that every GNC carries and if they have it you can have it shipped to your house free of shipping.

As a employee i am ashamed to work for it.. first off the prices are terrible... second off they make you push "stuff" that is some what ok i do like the multi's though and then you get other people that are dumber than a box of rocks. i called another store full of new hire's and asked if they knew the difference between a wpc and wpi and they couldnt tell me... the most basic of bb knowledge and you cant tell me the difference between proteins? absolutely dispicable.. and contrary to many beliefs we DO NOT have a contract with MUSCLETECH "garbage btw" and i will not even recomend MUSCLETECH even if the customer is the meanest rotteness person because its crap... as far as selection it varies from store to store and corprate to franchise... prices are high... thinking about quitting because i cant stand it... and it would make my job alot easier if most of the customers came in and had a little knowledge under their belt

Convenience is the key word here. In my case, I actually have a GNC in my area where the store manager is an ex competitor, nutritionist and a pretty cool guy to boot. He has talked me out of buying things I don't want on more than one occasion. The prices are high, especially if it isn't GNC gold card week. The other lackeys that work at the store aside from my guy, are morons and will let you talk yourself into buying everything and anything without hesitation. Convenient yes, high quality, no.

GNC only has one thing going for it and that is convenience to the buyer as being a store front wherever you live. The service in my town is good, the employees really seem to try, although not the most knowledgeable..didn't know what the difference was in pre vs post in the directions of a product. If it isn't the gold card time of the month or something isn't on sale stay away from GNC, their prices are terrible but convenience always seems to win. I need to keep to my own advice and pre plan my purchases and buy online. GNC has a good return policy, which can be difficult with internet purchases but they managed to screw that up too. I have never, I repeat NEVER, walked out of a GNC and thought I got a good deal. GNC is a glorified "middle man" that gets their cut no matter what they try to make you think. If money isn't an option then shop away, if you want a bargain there is better out there you just have to look.

I am an EX-GNC MANAGER and what I have to say it is sexist. 3 girls got promotions to SSM before me yet there store's goals was no were near mine and yet my store was in better condition. I obviously am a better manager then the 3 other females and I get screwed but on to GNC as a whole.
Goals, They try so hard to send you out of the store with something you simply dont need at all. The employees are simply your average joes that truley read a couple of boxes and direct you towards muscletech cuz they have the highest commissions.
Service, Depends on were you go but who cares bout service its supplements it something your going to be putting into your body.
Morals, As a company THEY HAVE NO MORALS AT ALL. They proffitted 15% of what they claim was a charity for St.Judes Hospital. That is by far mind boggling. They took away much needed help for kids with cancer for there own personal profit. They want to call that a Charity? That is ridiculous. I am ashamed to call my self an exemployee of store with no MORALS

GNC has always been good to me. Yea they prices are higher and i admit half the time i order from online sources... but if you watch the stores and website you can get some pretty killer deals. The employees are hit or miss so dont rely on them and dont let them persuade you!! learn what you need on your own, knowledge is power literally and figuretivly when it comes to bodybuilding. Their pro performance products have worked good for me in the past and the stores ive been to have a decent selection. If youve got a little extra cash and need something immeaditly GNC is a great choice

This is the second time I have tried to get through to you people. GNC is all about scamming the con artists in the industry, they change the sale prices to higher sales the week of gold card. The superiors don't care about the little guy, if an employee asks the superiors a question they are made an example of. They just got a female president for the entire company. The first thing she does is make a BE WELL section which is for women only. It's not bad enough guys get screwed everywhere else from clothes and shoes to entertainment, they have to discriminate against the men in their own store. I am all for women taking care of themselves and being healthy, however if you are going to be adding new products you need to have it be equal men and women. To the rest of you who have placed comments so far I would seriously recommend putting your words through spell check and grammar check so we can understand what you are trying to say. Thank you.

I too am a employee and in regards to the comments of having a decreased selection you can blame that a lot on the DEA and FDA and whoever else likes to ban products. And as for employees that dont know anything, there are a lot of them but I wouldnt base a review simply on one or two experiences.

as a manager at GNC i hear a lot of negative feedback at the gym where i go about our prices and service. yes GNC brand products are more expensive, but they are also a higher quality product and we hold ourselves to a higher standard than most companies. for ex. Superfoods Supreme, the most powerfull antioxident drink that is made from over 70 different superfoods, was put on hold because a couple of the exotic fruits were unattainable due to drought. so instead of just throwing some filler in and sending it out, we stopped production on the product until we were absolutely sure that the product was up to standard. and about the service, i understand that there are some sales associates that probably don't know a whole lot, but i can guarentee you that there are a ton more employees who are deeply passionate about the work they do and try to do right by the customer.

Do not buying anything there at all. In less you just do not like you money and want to part with it fast. Most of there stuff is way over priced if you can wait a day or two order it from BodyBuilding.com price are way better and even with shipping and haldling your money will go a long way.

I have been to a couple GNC stores and have had pretty good results. For the most part the sales associates know there stuff, but it seems they make a lot of recommendations towards things they hear good things about rather than what is in the supplement that makes it effective. I asked about Arson last time I went in and he shrugged it off and said he has heard good things about Methyl Ripped Hardcore. Ok, well what is in both of them that will help me. Just becuase it works for some doesn't mean it works for all. Overall, not bad but sales people could try harder. Though I am sure many do all they can.

The prices suck and the service depends completely on how lucky you are that day. Sometimes you get someone who knows it all and won't try to sell you crap.. sometimes you get someone who knows it all and tries to pressure you. And finally, you get the people who know nothing.
I'll neevr forget the one time I went into a GNC and the woman was trying to force me to buy a multivitamin. I said no a few times and she started raising her voice at me yelling something about Iron content of the one I was taking and whatnot. I left without buying the protein i went in there for or her stupid multivitamins and walked over to Vitamin World on the other side of the mall. I'm not stupid, I know men shouldn't have too much iron, but I also know we need SOME.

GNC doesnt care about giving you what you need. They want to twist what you need, into what they WANT to sell you. THey dont play by the rules. They push vitamin packs, vitamins, and protein, that cost 20-30 dollars more, and last half the time.
I was in a GNC and some chick was asking for something to pass a drug test. Someone sold them a drink to do so. Five minutes later, a guy with tatoos came in, and the employee said "we dont have anything for that, its illegal to sell prodcut to pass a drugtest"

dang, some harch reviews on here.. well since I work as a sales associate at GNC, I can say some statements on here are true, such as the higher prices, the prices are higher because GNC is a "middle man" trying to make a profit, if you don't know what that means, look it up. And the gold card discount can give you some pretty good discounts, also there are usually sales on lots of products. Secondly, there are alot of associates who really don't know anything about supplements, I am not one of them due to an expansive knowledge of dietary supplements-sports nutrition-and vitamins/minerals, there are alot of employees who know quite a bit. The problem is with most of the customers who don't know anything, or think they know stuff and are too ignorant to listen to a knowledgable sales associate. so try not to make such general assumptions about places, just because you had a bad experience at one or two stores.

i only go to GNC if im in a dire emergency...i just hit up dps now for much much cheaper prices...Animal Pak at GNC is what>? 45-50$ Animal Pak at dps is 20$ and that whole ordering online thing isnt always true online prices at dps are the same exact prices in person...

look for all of you bashing on gnc, it really gets old. alot of you say the associates dont know what there talking about but how much do you really know? i will be honest a lot of the gnc's do hire people that dont know anything, but there are also several stores that have people there trying to do whats best for the customer. I am the manager of a gnc and am in charge of 3 others, come into any one of those stores and 9/10 you wont even hear muscle tech mentioned unless it truly is whats best for your goal. sure you can go online and get stuff cheaper, its shipped from a warehouse. any instore pricing will be higher to account for the building fees and staffing. before you can bash one of the biggest supplement stores in the country think about what your saying. dont categorize every store just becuase you had a bad experience.... unless your mr olympia, i guarantee you can benefit from something one of us have to say

Luckily around my area and cut-up bodybuilder works at GNC and tells me what products are good and what are not good. but the days he is off there is this 60year old lady working there and she knows nothing about supplements. Prices are overpriced even with the gold card. I'm starting to order from the internet even though it takes 2-3 more days to recieve my product. (atleast 50% cheaper than things in GNC)

GNC has some great products in their store. However, I know more about the products than the people that work there do. They are also slightly biased when it comes to the product they are reccomending. They push MuscleTech and their own GNC brand the hardest. Rediculously priced items, almost twice of what you would pay on Amazon.com, even with your Gold Card.

They only push products that they get something out of (kick backs, commissions, sales numbers for contests between stores, etc). An example of this is with Muscle Tech. Walk into a GNC and I GUARANTEE they will swing you toward a Muscle Tech product...or a GNC product. They suck!

Vitamin Shoppe is so much cheaper for the same exact brands. The people that work at GNC 9 out of 10 times are retarted when it comes to any type of BB nutrtion. Recently someone who worked there told me Designer Protein(the original whey) was bad because it was soy. I will say one positive thing though The GNC brand is legit, and of course the convience in multiple locations. Still a rip off in general though

well the selection is ..ok. poelpe that work there dont know anything. the most unknowledgeable customers could teach them. prices are horrible. the only good prices are for their own brand of products. which suck. except the multi..they have a good multi. you pay 65 bucks for something there when you can get the same thing for 40 bucks online. dont waste your time or money.

I really thought after the .com's took off they'd run GNC out of buisness. I use to order out of a magazine back then when I seen you can save about 50-70% off what GNC charges for the same products. GNC is a rip off!!

Ordered something on feb. 08 received it on feb 28. Twenty days later I had my protein. GNC said it was a screw up with the post office. They don't mention that Fed EX ships it to the local post office then they deliver it. Good thing I had a back up jug!

The service reps I've encountered in GNC are usually pretty knowledgeable and kind, though they do try to push their products but did try to find me good deals. It is pretty damn hard to find prices MORE expensive though! They're ridiculous! BSN Cellmass for $60 there... but eBay I can get TWO of the same size container plus Six syntha-6 sample packets for $68 w/shipping!! I'd only go there in an emergency, or for some quick answers. Their selection is pretty limited compared to the internet (obviously).

The innovator, the king of supplement retailers, but also the most expensive by far. The price is through the roof on nearly all products. Online deals can be found much much cheaper nearly anywhere you look. As far as in-store, the cleanliness and organization is not worth the hassling you get from the staff trying to sell you multivitamins all the time or the most expensive product they have that doesnt do anything.
